booking tickets for the ballet

Hi, We are arriving in Prague on Tuesday 1/1. What is the best way to book tickets for the ballet? Is it better through the net or on the spot? Are there any do’s & don’t’s about booking & which seats should we stay clear of(too far away from stage,etc). Thanks!!!
